Igraine the Brave

Igraine the Brave

By Cornelia Funke

Igraine comes from a small family of magicians who live at castle pimpernel. Her parents were making her birthday present when they accidentally turn themselves into pigs. The next day the castle comes under siege by lord Osmund, Igraine goes to get the cure for her parents and leaves Albert (her brother) to defend the castle. And on the way back she meets a sorrowful but helpful knight. When she gets home the sorrowful knight distracts lord Osmund while Igraines parents slowly turn themselves normal again.

There isn’t too much action in this story. The author could have included more action like more chapters and maybe at the end a dragon could come to help lord Osmund with the siege. This way we would get more fighting and magic.

Igraine is my favourite character. Even though the rest of her family are magicians she chooses to be a knight. She does not let the fact that the rest of her family are magicians get her down.

This is a good book over all and I give it 3 and half stars because it certainly could have been more exiting. But it was good to read from an old author. (Cornelia Funke wrote Inkheart, Inkdeath and Inkspell).
