The Magic Keepers 1, The Eternal Hour Glass

The Magic Keepers 1, The Eternal Hour Glass

By Erica Kirov

The Magic Keepers is a book about magic, obviously. It is about a boy and girl called Nick, who is trainee magician, and Isabella his cousin. In this book the evil Rasputin wants the working eternal hourglass in his possession to preferably, steal anything he wants. Although Rasputin has the hourglass he needs the sand, which Nick has.

The eternal hourglass is an hourglass that if a magician says the right words the amazing “relic”, as the magicians call these ancient things, will stop time for ten seconds.

The book made me feel that I am glad I don’t have magic because it would be too much trouble and I’d have to eat bad food if I was a Russian magician as Nick described. They eat fish egg casserole! YUK.

These books are pretty fast to read so it would be good for a one-day trip or a sleep over, anything you prefer that is short, but I’m a pretty fast reader it might be easier for me. You can read this book and series if you want. I personally think it is a good series.

I give this book a three out of five stars.

The Mysterious Benedict Society 2

The Mysterious Benedict Society 2

Written by Trenton Lee Stewart

This is the second book in the Mysterious Benedict Society Trilogy. In this book Reynie, Kate, Sticky and Constance go on trip in which they were supposed to find Duskwort, the cure to Mr. Benedicts narcolepsy. But while Mr. Benedict was placing clues for the children to find, Mr. Curtain captured Mr. Benedict and Number Two. The children go on a perilous journey to find and save them while the ten men (called the ten men because they have ten different ways of hurting you) are out looking for them! Will the children find and save Number Two and Mr. Benedict or will they get captured and held prisoners with Number Two and Mr. Benedict?

I think the best part of the book was when they figured out the second clue because I had to read the text three times before seeing the clue.

My favourite character is still Reynie who is the smartest and figures out most of the clues.

An alternative ending might have been they escaped themselves.

I think this is a great trilogy so far and I hope you think the same thing. If you like adventure books you will like this book. My rate for this book is four stars.
