The House Of Hades

The House Of Hades

By Rick Riordan

The book "The House Of Hades" is the fourth in the series called the Heroes Of Olympus.
It's based around the Greek Gods, the Roman Gods and their children called Demigods. It uses characters from the series Percy Jackson and adds in more characters as the story goes on.
The main characters are Percy, Annabeth, Bob, Hazel, Frank, Jason, Leo, Piper, Nico and Coach Hedge.

A demigod is the child of a god and a mortal. The demigods actually have powers , Percy is a son of Poseidon the god of water so he can control water. Annabeth is a daughter of Athena the god of wisdom so she is very tactical. Bob is actually a Titan so he was born just under the power of the gods and has many powers. Hazel is a daughter of Pluto the roman god of riches and death so she can summon riches (partly because of a curse though). Frank is a son of Mars the roman god of war so he can 'rage' and turn into berserker. Jason is a son of Jupiter the roman god of air so he can control the air. Piper is a daughter of Aphrodite so she can charm speak which is like bending people from their will. Nico is a son of Hades the god of the underworld so he communicates very well with the dead. Leo is a son of Hephaestus, the god of machinery so Leo is very good with machinery and crafting. Coach Hedge is a satyr, a half goat half human. Put all of that together and you have a powerful team.

At the end of the last book Percy and Annabeth fell into a 9-day fall deep hole called Tartarus, what a cliff hanger. Just be sure that Bob doesn't come in until later. In the start of this book it tells us about how Annabeth and Percy finished their landing in the hole. There is a river right below them so Percy summons it up to cushion their fall. The only way out of the underworld is through the doors of death, but their friends have to be there because of an enemy waiting for for Annabeth and Percy.

There are two stories in this book that happen in parallel. It switches perspectives between Percy and Annabeth and their friends who are coming to help them.

My favorite part of the story is when Percy and Annabeth meet the doors of death but a surprise is waiting for them. There is a big battle, and I like battles!
Thank you so much for reading this review!
